It seems like there is a little too much of the yellow and black "ribbon".
Try taking away the "ribbon" around the content and nav etc, maybe go for a metal look?
But keep the black and yellow "ribbon" at the sides.
8/10 - Overuse of that black and yellow tape-like "ribbon".

Adam, you could try making the "ribbon" around the content,nav etc metal, just to see if you like it.
It could look very good.
You could even expand the current layout to a "building" site theme, with pixelated cones and tractors maybe?
But if it looks too kiddish, dont!
