Default Oasis - Stop the Clocks - How long for?

Oasis have released an album with their greatest hits so far on it...

I'm guessing "Stop The Clocks" means either stopping work for a while or stopping all together...

    What do you think?

    Will Oasis return?

Im not sure. I think Oasis is done to be honest, even if they do come out with new albums. They haven't really evolved musically much, havent adapted. They had their run. Very few bands can be around for more than 10 years still come out with music that still attracts.

A greatest hits album doesnt mean its over though. Red Hot Chili Peppers have like 3 Greatest hits albums, and they're still going. A lot of times Greatest Hits albums are a part of contracts.

I just can't help feeling the title is symbolic...

There are some legendary songs on it, infact all of the songs I would have put on it are on it... apart from Whatever, legend of a song...

Yeah I mean even Oasis' last two albums since their first break haven't been the best. Heathen Chemistry and Dont Believe the Truth certainly are not superb albums to the standard Definitely Maybe and Whats the Story are.
They've disappointed me really. But I have to agree. I think it's the end of Oasis.

Ever thought they could just be reflecting on there best songs?

I think that's what it means!

Although your ideas do have logic too

I don't think the album name is symbolic of something like that.

Yeah but rumour was they were splitting up before they announced Stop the Clocks.

I think they should to a tour next year to go with stop the clocks... and then just finish it because I can't see them getting back to how they were... they have done well to last over a decade.

Well, I dont think they'll stop. Bands have a tendency to keep going unless something major happens. Not many bands say "Okay, we're all retiring", they usually just make bad album after bad album until they just dissapear.

If the album is looking back at legendary songs, it could be Stopping the clock to reflect on past hits?

Anyway, i have to agree with what you said, they have changed they're music a bit, and it really sucks, its nothing like the old classic, like Wonderwall & everything.

The only reason they don't make good music is because now they actually sit down and write the songs. Before they were off their faces when they wrote their songs. But they are "clean" now. See drugs aren't always that bad.

The Gallaghers have always had problems, they have never really got on with eachother. Like at the start Liam wouldn't even let Noel in the band...

i already bought the stop the clocks EP the other day.

im not sure if they're splitting up, they're sure past their 'best' days. they've tried changing styles and stuff, but they can't beat or even match previous work. personally i think they're best calling it a day and leaving this new rush of 'indie' bands to take their place.
