    Default Best Of The Year

December usually marks the end of the year in the music industry. Promotions and releases usually take a break and wait until the fresh new year starts for various reasons, rarely is a major album released in December. That being said, what do you think was the best of the year in music? Anything at all, album, song, music video, new band, concert.

To be honest, this year wasen't great in music. I stand by my theory that every other year in music is good (this not being one of them. 2001, 2003, 2005 all great years in music, in between... not so much). But by the looks of whats planned to come out in 2007, next year wont be disappointing. (The Shins, Modest Mouse, Radiohead, possible Foo Fighters, Coldplay, and Chevelle. I cant wait.)

But, there was some good stuff out there. Here's my choices:

    Best album:
"The Body, The Blood, The Machine" by The Thermals.
The best pop-punk Ive heard since Dookie. The mere 10 song set, only about 35 minutes long, is so satisfying and so catchy, I dont know why it isnt more popular. Their song 'A Pillar Of Salt' [Music video] is featured on the playlist that comes with the Zune, but other than that, they haven't recieved much attention. I highly recommend it for anyone into pop-punk [However, just as a warning, many songs contain sarcastic anti-evangelical christian themes. Maybe thats why they havent been popular? Nah...]

    Honorable mentions:
"Stadium Arcadium" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
    "The Eraser" by Thom Yorke
"Return To Cookie Mountain" by TV on the Radio

    Best Song:
"Snow ((Hey Oh))" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Ah, just a really pretty song. Probably the best of the new RHCP CD. Not much to say about it.

    Honorable mentions:
"Here's Your Future" by The Thermals
"Harrowdown Hill by" by Thom Yorke
    "Moth" by Audioslave
"Wolf Like Me" by TV on the Radio
    "Liar" by Built To Spill
"Fake Tales Of San Francisco" by Arctic Monkeys

I can't really remember exactly what albums came out this year. Only ones I can think of at the moment:
    Moneen - The Red Tree
New Found Glory - Coming Home
Brand New - The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me
I'll probably come up with more later.
Best concert for me was Warped Tour, nothing else really compares, but the moneen and alexisonfire show was definetly a great one too.
I didn't know the shins were coming out with a new album, that's pretty exciting.

I know everyone's going to flame me for this, but I honestly belive my best/favourite album this year has to be The Black Parade. I love most of the songs on the album, and I just think it's a great album.
