    Default The Burning Crusade

    I made this thread for the benefit of everyone who is confused about what the Burning Crusade (BC for short) expansion does, features, and other random questions, so I will explain it in as much detail as possible, and if you have anything to add, just reply to the thread, don`t be too harsh.

    The most obvious addition to the gameplay is the two new races introduced. These are Draeni and Blood Elf. Draeni are members of the Alliance faction and Blood Elves are members of the Horde faction. Up until now Paladins have only been available to select races of the Alliance, BUT, when the BC is released, the Blood Elves will be able to play as Paladins also. Blood Elves are also the first class to not be able to become a Warrior. The Shaman class has only been available select races of the Horde, but when the BC is released, the Shaman class will be available to the Draeni. As a Draeni, you will be able to choose from the following classes: Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Priest, Shaman or Mage (There are also rumours of Draeni being able to choose the Warlock class also, but this has not been confirmed). As a Blood Elf, you will be able to chhoose from the following classes: Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Mage and Warlock. I could go through the story of the Draeni and Blood Elf, but I will leave that until you have got your copy, and you can see the introduction yourself.

    Ok, moving on, you keeping up? Good. The next improvement to the game is an increase in the level cap to level 70. Players without the Burning Crusade were previously only able to reach level 60.

    Still reading this? You must be bored. The next addition to the game is new talents and spells for every class. I am not going to go through them all, because that would take too long, and may change in the future, but you can view them on the official World of Warcraft website HERE.

    Still awake? Great! Bored of playing on Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms? Well, The Burning Crusade introduces the new continent of Outland. This is a new dark continent that will give you access to lots more monsters, quests, and dungeons, and of course flying mounts!

    If you are tired of the same old professions, or have chosen something you like and need to fill your other slot? Then why not try jewelcrafting! This is the new profession to be brought to the game when the Burning Crusade is released. Unlike most professions, jewelcrafting can be used in many, many different ways.

    So, that is my explanation of the Burning Crusade, I`m just going to round off by answering some quick questions that I`ve seen arround thise forum and some others.

    Q. Will I need to buy the expansion pack to continue playing?
    A. You do not need the expansion pack to continue playing, but it would give you a great advantage above your fellow guild members.

    I dont really know any more FAQs about the Burning Crusade that I haven`t already covered.

    If you are going to add things to the guide or correct it please dont be too harsh on me, I posted this quite late and put a lot of work into it.

    Enjoy.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    When is the burning crusade expansion being released?
    Blizz has Made it official The Burning Crusade Will release January 16, 2007!

    Will the level cap be raised?
    Yes, the level cap is in fact being raised to 70. With the cap raise there will also be an additional 10 talent points added.

    Will there be any new talents or spells?
    Yes, they have already started working on them for every class, you can check them out here. *Remember they get altered occasionally so check back often.

    Will there be new mounts?
    The Draenei is to be receieving the Elekk mount, something very similar to an elephant. While the Blood Elves will be recieving a mount called a Hawkstrider, that closely resembles the chocobo's from SquarEnix's Final Fantasy Games. There will also be Flying Mounts introduced to the game including a flying griphon, bat, Nether Drake, and many more that we will simply just have to find out about upon the release.

    Will there be any new classes
    No, there will be no new classes as Blizzard intends to focus more on building up the existing classes before venturing to create any new ones. This includes Hero Classes.

    Are we getting Player Housing yet?
    No not yet though it has been to stated to be in the works.

    Is it true, new professions?
    World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade will introduce a lot of new features to expand the game in many interesting and fun ways. One of these additions is the introduction of a new profession: jewelcrafting.

    Jewelcrafters learn the art of creating beautiful jewelry and trinkets from metals and rare gems. By processing the raw ore mined from the various deposits and mineral veins, jewelcrafters can extract gems from the ore which they can then use for their craft. Although miners sometimes find gems while gathering ore, jewelcrafters mostly rely on their prospecting skills to get more of the precious stones.

    Jewelcrafters work with gems in many different ways. If a jewelcrafter uses gems to create jewelry, he usually only needs the raw, uncut stones for his work. These rings, amulets, and trinkets function just like those that can already be found in the game, with a few notable exceptions. For example, jewelcrafters can learn to create gemmed figurines that they can carry in their trinket slots. While these figurines all provide passive benefits, they can also be used to provide the player with a short buff – just enough to give you that little damage boost or maybe that quick burst of extra healing power you may need in a tricky situation. These figurines will bind when picked up, so only jewelcrafters will be able to use their powers.

    Another way jewelcrafters can use gems is by cutting them, preparing them to be used in socketed items. Gems come in many different colors and shapes. Different types of gems have different basic properties, and a gem's cut also determines the effect this gem will have. Jewelcrafters can learn several types of cuts for each kind of gem: the Azure Moonstone, for example, can be cut into a lustrous, stormy, solid, or sparkling Azure Moonstone, and each one of these cuts offers different bonuses when used in a socketable item. Placing cut gems into an item's sockets will add the bonuses of these gems to those of the item, allowing players to customize their equipment to better suit their individual play style or the different roles their class can fulfill.

    At higher levels, socketed items and specially cut gems become an important part of an adventurer's "bag of tricks". Both armor and weapons can have sockets. Some socketed items can be found in dungeons, but the expansion will also introduce a lot of new recipes for all the professions, including many recipes that let leatherworkers, blacksmiths, and tailors create socketed items. Socketed items can be of uncommon, rare, or even epic quality. An item's sockets can also have a specific color; if you put a gem of a matching color in each socket, the item will reward you with a special stat bonus beyond the gems' regular effects. However, you can also put gems of a different color in these slots if you would rather have a specific gem's effect instead of the added bonus.

    Did you say socketed items?
    As a matter of fact I did, blizzard has announced a new socket feature reminiscent of the socket feature of Diablo II with some aspects unique to WoW.

    * Place Gems in items.
    * Choose what gems you want
    * Armorsmiths/leatherworkers will be able to make armor with sockets
    * Can choose whatever combination of gems you want
    * Can overwrite gems like you can overwrite enchants

    Where is the expansion going to be taking place?
    The burning crusade expansion will take place in Outland, will be reachable through the Dark Portal and should be roughly half the size of the existing continents.

    Will there be new dungeons?
    Yes, in fact blizzard has announced that there will be a ton of new dungeons opening up throughout the current lands and outland.

    * Karazhan in Deadwind Pass
    * Caverns of Time in Tanaris, a natural labyrinth, with portals leading to different eras in Azeroth's past, protected by ancient Bronze Dragonflights. Opening each of these Portals will be World Events

    What kind of new creatures will be introduced?
    Blizzard has announced four new creature types so far.

    * The Broken
    *The Broken, led by the great Akama, fell prey to the
    demons' sinister influence, and just like the orcs, they too were changed by the corruption.
    *It almost seems like a miracle that the Broken somehow managed to preserve their shamanistic heritage
    *From the safety of the fortified villages the Broken hold in Outland, they lord over their lesser cousins, the wretched Lost Ones
    * Ethereals
    *The ethereals are astral travelers who dwell within the Twisting Nether.
    *They are known to be collectors and traders of arcane items and artifacts.
    *They are uninterested in the burning crusade itself and might very well play the opposing forces.
    * Fleshbeasts
    *The mindless fleshbeasts brought into this world by Medivh, summoned from some unspeakable place beyond.
    * Forest Trolls
    *Once a great troll empire known as the amani, and brief allies of the horde.
    * Gronn
    *Monstrous. Cyclopean. Terror incarnate.
    *Immortal demigods of the ogre race.
    *There are said to be only 7 gronn left.
    * Rock Flayers
    *Rock flayers are one of Outland's indigenous species.
    *Their vicious blade scythes and climbing claws are so sharp they can even cut through sheer rock, enabling the rock flayers to climb the most difficult overhangs with ease.
    *Even for a predatory species, they are extremely fast and very aggressive.
