hmm not sure about this one, all i know that the system is strange. I maxxed out furni in my pacman room, but if you take posters down you can put down more furni and put the posters back up after

anyways back on topic, in my V9 room ive got 479 pieces of furni and im max

I'd agree with that so for example rollers would use up more room furni than something like a doormat

You can only put 35 rollers in a big room i know that

Each piece of furni has a certain number of sprite codes related to it in the room. These sprite codes define the furni limit and are determined by the number of times the item can rotate, whether it opens/closes and whether it has a function. For example, a brown plasto chair should have 8 sprite codes, one for each rotation and one for each position you sit in once its rotated.
I may be wrong about certain points of the above information but from what ive heard thats how it works.
I have no idea what the sprite code limit is per room but im certain that it depends on the room size
