Another awful game at Brunton Park where the wind, and the referee spoilt the game. Two inconsistant sides lined up against each other and showed that during the game. Carlisle couldn't capitalise with the wind behind them in the first half and went behind on 26 minutes when luke Beckett glanced a header in to the bottom-right corner. Carlisle were level on the stroke of half time. A Jeff Smith free kick was challenged in the air by Danny Livesey against Matt Glennon and Garner was underneath it to score his 4th goal for the Cumbrians.
The second half was much more quiet in the way of goalscoring chances, but the referee certainly made his mark. Zigor Aranalde had the best chance of the half when his powerfully driven free kick was saved by Glennon. In the 90th minute, Garner, who had already been booked, had beaten the offside trap and was running for the ball towards the edge of the 18 yard box. Glennon came out and challenged Garner, sent him to the floor and Brunton Park went up to call for a red card for Glennon. Instead, the referee took a yellow card out of his pocket and gave Garner his second yellow of the game and he was off. The whole of the ground saw the challenge, so I don't know what the referee saw :@.
