Well you've got plenty of time to win them round.
    Sorry I can't recommend anything.

Well, does your college do guitar lessons or anything like that? Mine does, so i'm guessing other colleges do to, just wait till then, and you'll have a reason to get one, and then maybe your parents will buy one?

I have a strat. There's some great ones out there, but since youre going to have to wait till christmas, I'd get an accoustic until then. A cheap one, doesnt need to be great. It'll get your fingers ready, because accoustics are harder to play than electric.

Since your waiting until christmas to get a guitar,
why not look for lessons at college/school or elsewhere to
get you ready for your guitar.

Yeap as redstrat said, play the acoustic first, rent one or somthing, I played acoustic for a year before going onto electric, moves alot of techniques onto the electric.

I have a Gibson Epiphone Les Paul = my baby :p

Guitar Center usually has a lot of good deals going on, and alot of deals around the Holiday season so, check there.

If you want something cheap w/ a few extra's i'd reccommend this

Yeah, I played this really old accoustic for a few monthes before getting an electric, and once I got an electric I was like "wow, this is so much easier".
