    Default Virginia Tech

Just writing how I feel about the matter.

What the hell is going on with this new breed of violence? It’s not even violence, its cowardice. It’s all the same; some gunman goes into a building, shoots up the place and caps himself. What’s worse is that half the time is that the people getting killed are completely *Removed* innocent.

These were just kids, just college kids, trying to get an education, just trying to get ahead in life. Now they need to worry if there’s some physco killer coming down the hallway to shoot them in the head because he got a D- on his Physics report.

This ++++ happens all over the world; flip on the news any day and you should see it. Someone walks into a building with a bunch of C4 up their +++ and presses the button. But these people do it with passion, it could be out of faith or belief it doesn’t matter. Don’t get me wrong, I’m against people who kill innocent for any cause, but this is still better than mindless killing.

And when this mindless killing does happen, its usually cause of something pity… Like someone makes fun of someone else or something trivial like that. So instead of meeting the *Removed* by the bike rack after school, they aim just a little higher, and decide to put a bullet in their face, along with other innocents.

Personally I don’t know why people do this, but let me wipe something off the list, it’s NOT guns. Even if they didn’t have guns, they’d find something else to use.

But the sick part in all of this is that we’re becoming more and more desensitized to this ++++. I turn on the news every day and nine times out of ten there will be some crazy suicide attack on a country I never plan on visiting. Ten people, fifty people even two hundred people killed as shown in a very recent attack in Iraq.

Now I’m not saying that what happened at Virginia Tech isn’t horrible, but in comparison to all of the bloodshed traveling the world, we can merely turn our heads and smile.

I think we feel so horrified at 32 dead, instead of the 40+ dead in suicide attacks deadly in Iraq, is because it's happening where we don't expect stuff like that to happen - in a school/college/university, whereas the attacks in Iraq happen daily, so we don't feel shocked, it's more of a routine.

    You need your own column.

That's a great article, some spelling mistakes and grammatical errors but the content was top notch.

Indeed, the Iraq violence is worse than this, but it's not in the same context.

Unfortunately, us, normal, civilians cannot do anything about it.

What's he going to do? Stab people 170 times? He wouldnt have done it if he didnt have a gun. Maybe a few people he may have tried to kill, probably not even that. No way could he have killed 32 people with pretty much any other weapon.

if he had a knife the students could of over took him,and the police would of walked rite in a soon as they got there instead of waiting.

and to add more, even if guns had restrictions put on them in the US (like it is in the UK), people would still get a gun if they wanted one to do something like that with, even if they were risking getting into trouble, I doubt thats one of their concerns if there about to shoot 32 people and themselves.
Its like telling a terrorist if they commit an act of terror they'll get 40 years in prison.

You narrow it down to just sharp implements. In the Columbine shootings they used home made bombs which had the potential to kill if created to a better degree.

Molotovs, Pressure Grenades, Nail Guns, Fertilizer implacements... these weapons would of done more damage than a gun.
