have you got the right smithing / fletching level to make the stock and limbs?

you need to make the stock from a particular type of log, i cant remember which

then smith the lims from a mith bar

kill a cow, use the meat on a range and dry into sinew, then spin it into a xbow string

with a hammer in your inventory, use the limbs on the stock

then use the string on it

    et voila, one mithril crossbow
