    Default Language of Ireland

I've noticed on this forum that some of you don't know that Ireland has a language of their own.

The first official language of Ireland is Irish, whereas English comes as the second official language of the country. The name of the language is simply called Irish (Many people outside of Ireland call the language Gaelic, where this is the incorrect term) in Ireland and within the European Union it is called Irish.

Irish is not spoken every where in Ireland today, but Irish is the predominantly
spoken language in a lot of parts in Ireland mainly in the west, south, and Donegal, Irish is the main language.

Irish is a compulsory school subject in Ireland, and you have to learn it till you are 16.

On the 1st of January 2007, Irish became the 23rd official language of the European Union.

Where Irish is the main language in certain parts in Ireland, them parts are called the Gaeltacht http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaeltacht

And here is information on the Irish language http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_language

I hope you all know that now Ireland have a language of their own.

If you have any questions regarding Irish, just ask me here I will be more than happy to answer your questions.
