Question on Pures.

Firstly, I'm sorry if this has been posted before, please no -rep ♥

Righty, as you all should know, I've made a new account, and I was hoping to make it a Pure Ranger. But I would also like to treat it as a main account, where I can get all my other Skills up, such as Woodcutting, Mining, Fishing, Cooking, Prayer etc.

So I was wondering, for me to get up Woodcutting and Mining, I will eventually need to use a Rune Hatchet / Pickaxe, which requires 40 Attack. Should I get 40 Attack, and then just leave it and leave Strength and Defence at 1? And just get up Range after? Also Prayer will increase my combat, so can I still get up my Prayer level and still be a Pure Ranger?

You dont have to weild the axe or pick to use it you can just keep it in your invent.
