Default Post your ideal England ODI squad..

Since England are doing pretty darn poorly in ODI's / twenty20 formats of the game, what would you recommend as a decent team for England selectors, if they asked you?
(bare in mind, this is assuming everyone is fit)
    Personally.. (in batting order): (11)

    Maddy
    Trescothick
    Pietersen
    Collingwood (C)
    Shah
    Flintoff
    Nixon (Wkt)
    Broad
    S Jones
    Anderson
    Panesar

    Back-up's.. (3)
    Bopara
    Bell
    Plunkett

    Your turn :8

    Rashid
    Hoggard
    Anderson
    Harmison

I think KP should be captain, he's the best ODI batsmen in the world and he deserves a chance at number 1 because I just don't feel he's comfortable down the order and also he would be a good captain - better than Paul anyway.

I want Flintoff to start with KP as well because those two ususally put on big partnerships and a kick-start opening partnership is what England need.

Nixon because he played brilliantly during the ICCWC and Rashid needs to be given a chance in test or ODI because he is a superb bowler. People say he needs to mature a little before the selectors go for him but you're wasting talent really because he is a phenomenally good young bowler.

Hoggard and Anderson are straight forward choices as they are good, consitant bowlers. I really didn't want Harmison to be in my squad but I'd struggle to find a replacement. Broad just had a good spell and Jones is more suited to test cricket imo.

Hmm, good choices, i would of gone for Hoggard myself, but I wasn't sure if he did england OD matches..

And I know Harmison has backed himself out of them, which I think was stupid of him.

I agree about Pietersen actually (captaincy) he would last longer than collingwood - gaurentee., but I don't think he can handle a new ball. In the world cup, he played fantastically well in his position. But I did think Flintoff should of been promoted to opening in the WC.
Definitely agree with nixon, was why I chose him.

And I think we need an experienced bowler atm, Rashid is 1 for the future, definitely.

It was between Panesar and Rashid and I picked Rashid because I've watched him bowl and he is miles better than Panesar but I don't know whether he's ready for the big stage - I'd give him a shot in an ODI definatly. I think Hoggard does do ODI's... not though.

Harmison has been all over the place but I don't see England having 2 spinners in an ODI squad because there'd be no back-up from the seamers.
