This summer sees the release of a great new film that HelKat and I have been eagerly anticipating for months! It's Hairspray. Let us take you back to 1962 – the 50’s are out and change is in the air..


Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one passion – dancing. Her dream is realised when she wins a spot on a local TV dance program, and is transformed overnight from being an outsider to becoming a teen celebrity. But can a trendsetter in dance and fashion defeat the program’s reigning princess and win the love of heart-throb Link Larkin —all without messing up her hairdo?


Based on the critically acclaimed smash Broadway hit which won 9 Tony awards including Best Musical, the comedy features a remarkable collection of talent including John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, Allison Janney, Brittany Snow, Zac Efron, Elijah Kelley and introducing Nikki Blonsky.


John Travolta is not only a great actor, dancer and all round legend of the big screen, but he’s also one of HelKat’s many idols! Similarly, I must admit I’m rather fond of Michelle Pfeiffer, but that shouldn’t come as any major surprise! They both play fantastic roles in this gripping film based on the 1988 John Waters cult classic.


Hairspray is in cinemas July 20th so be sure to get your dancing shoes on and pogo-mogo down to your nearest cinema to see it.
