This thread might seem a bit stupid but, safety comes first. When you are building your gamer tag right? When you put your phone number in do you HAVE to put it in, or just put a fake one?

Seeing as it's Microsoft I don't think you should have any problems with safety, I wouldn't imagine them taking your phone number and randomly calling you up, or giving it away, I think you can use a fake one but it wouldn't matter much

Not that I'm aware of, I would put in a real one if I were you because it may have an important use, I suggest you use an email account that is at least 18 years of age when signing up, that's if you haven't already because you lose some features, such as Windows Live Messenger

From what I know just Windows Live Messenger, more features will probably become available later but that's it I think

Does the membership start has soon has you create your gamertag?

Yea, it will activate as soon as you accept all the stuff and choose the type of membership you would like (Gold or Silver)
