    Default Depression?

    I think I have depression.

Its a long story really, and my symptoms are hard to explain, but here I go...

A few weeks ago I started feeling wierd, not really much in a physical way, but just wierd. We were going to the Cinema that day, and everything just seemed boring and unexciteable - which is completely differant to when I normally go to McDonalds & Cineworld. But yeah, and it felt horrible. Its hard to explain, but it was like a deep dark pit inside me, I felt bored, wierd and that I would never be happy again.
This hasn't stopped since, and I have had this feeling almost everyday. I thought it was just hormones to start off with, seeing as i'm 13, but how come no one else has said anything and whatever? Then I thought it was all the rain and no sun, making the summer go away etc. And I put in my symptoms on google and it came up with depression.
I'm scared and i'm not sure if its ever going to go away, its horrible. Nothing much has happened recently to make it start or anything, I don't think. I just really need to know what it is and how to stop it...

    Please help, thanks.

Many people feel far more low if they are faced with dreary conditions like the weather at the moment. People are generally happier in the sun and as everyone is desperate for sun, but we are lacking it, it makes everyone a little less cheerful.
Secondly, almost every teenager goes through a period of time where they feel depressed and low. It's unlikely to be clinical depression, otherwise life would seem far more pointless than I think you understand.
You've searched the symptoms, they match yours and you assume it's depression - DON'T DO THIS! Focusing on the idea that you have depression only leads to you feeling increasingly depressed; stay positive and don't dwell on the bad.
If you're that worried, you should see a doctor who can refer you to a specialist.

Yeah i had what your going through last year, to 'overide' the symptoms i was experiencing i started to go the gym alot more, this causes the 'feel good factor' after a good workout whilst also releasing more testosterone into your body and positive brain electrons.

Now i constantly go and haven't felt down in a good 18 months.

Thanks Garion, I do feel really bad recently.

The thing is, I don't want my Family or parents to know, is there any way to see a doctor without them knowing if it gets any worse or doesn't stop?

    Thanks +Rep.

Patient confidentiality operates whenever you go and see the doctor, so just make a appointment and explain the situation to your doctor, im sure they won't say anything. Thats if you need to go see one.

Well if im really stressed out or depressed i usually try to do something to forget about it eg play on a console game or something. Seems you have it worse though if youve been feeling it for a while. And as said above you can go to see a doctor confidentially if you wish.

It's called growing up I think your like 13-14? you will feel alot of different emotions. Depression comes and goes. Just do somthing you enjoy and maybe it will help you forget about your depression. Just keep busy and see how it goes.

I'm not sure. I think the best thing to do is speak out on your problems, don't hold them in. You have something bothering you, speak up about it. Don't bottle them up inside cause then that just makes it worse because you'd be holding all these feelings inside of you that need to be let out. That's my only advice for you. I hope you get through this. It's quite an awkward thing for a 13 year-old to be going through depression.

Also, to Rafiki, it's rather odd for a 13 year-old to be going through depression. My sister is 13 & she does not go through depression. Trust me. I didn't either when I was 13. It's not apart of life to go through this at the age of 13. It's odd.
