IPB Back-up help

Ok, On our forum we have been creating weekly MySql back-ups
Using these backups would we be able to,
Reinstall the forum fully on a completely new server ?
And upgrade forums - to 2.0+ ?

u coudl reinstall on complty differnt serves easy enogh. BUt to chnage boared type youd need a database coneveter, which can usealy be forund on the home sites of the board you are chaning to

But if we completely mushed the board how do i run a back up?

basicly, deleat all the tables, then in mysql, copy the contents of the sql back up file, in the the quiry box, and run it. probaly take a little while to install but has worked for me, so cant see why it woulnt work for you
