For $149.99, you'll be able to pick up SingStar Pop, two microphones and the brand-new Ceramic White PlayStation 2 when the latest Sony bundle ships in November. The company says the move is part of its initiative to emphasis social gaming this holiday.

"With our expansive library of titles for PlayStation, led by social gaming experiences such as SingStar, and Buzz!, we have an incredible offering for first-time gaming families," said Jack Tretton, SCEA's president and CEO, in a news release. "At $149, the limited edition Ceramic White PlayStation 2, bundled with the family-friendly social gaming title, SingStar Pop, is an unbeatable value that will provide fun for everyone this holiday."

Just when you thought it was safe to stop buying PS2s ...

SingStar Pop features 30 songs and six medleys from artists such as U2, Gorillaz and 3 Doors Down and challenges players to sing along with pitch and timing indicators on the screen to score points and bring down the house. The Ceramic White PS2 and Dual Shock controller feature all of the bells and whistles -- DVD and CD playback, digital surround sound, memory card slots, Ethernet port, etc. -- that the other slim models of the system have.

I agree with a person above that it woild of been great a few years ago. Not sure why they are bringing it out now with Sony releasing Ps3

There bringing it out to give the PS2 one last breath before they stop manufacturing it in 2009

Yea PS2 is still a majour console even with next gen consoles out now
Almost everyone has a PS2
They're good for a first console because they're cheap, they have good games and they have ok graphics
So they easily make more money from PS2s if they keep going with them

They wont stop production of the PS2 for a while (2009 like Purple said)

Its still a good money maker for them, They will make alot of cash from the games and its a good console for younger children or casual gamers. You wont go out and splash £425 on a brand new PS3 for your 8 year old kid (Im sure some people would, but I am thinking logically)

Well 2009 is just what I heard from the rumours and stuff... I expect it to be much longer though, they've stopped making Xboxes and Gamecubes because of the PS2's lifespan, I expect it to live on until it's hardware has gotten to the point we're it can only be transfered to PS3's blu-ray, until then god know's how much it'll sell for the new generation of gamers...
