How do I upload a font so that people viewing my site can see the font without having to download it. I've been told to put the font in a fonts directory, but how do I link to it? Or if not that, what other methods?

You would have to use GD, I think.

Website fonts have to be on the users computer to be able to see them.
PHP GD creates an image from text that you can use any font with.
