Guinea pig just died :(

For the past few days, i noticed that my guinea pig (fudge) has been slowly loosing weight and was having trouble breathing. But last night, she wasn't even able to eat or drink by herself so we rang up the vet and they told us to give her water using a syringe. We gave her water and she drank it so we left her for the night, but this morning we took her to the vets to have her examined. The guy was grabbing hold of her to keep her still so he can examine her but she kept crying out in pain and in the end she couldn't breath and fell unconscious and died
