Horror From The Deep - Suggestions?

Okay,
So i really want to get a prayer book.. So i gotta do horror from the deep.. I have done all the stages up to the stage where you gotta kill the mother..
I'm a level 61 mage/melee..
Mage level - 48
Attack level - 55
Strength - 50 etc

I can't use a cannon down there and i still can't use dragon weapons..

Any suggestions on what i should do ?

The Monster Can Double Range.. Hitting Up to 9 Per [Spike] .. 18 Damage =s

Theres one place you can hide so it cant melee you, then turn on protect from range and make sure u take prayer pots, and then keep using the correct spells and eventually it will die

ok go to the top right of the cave after u killed the baby and hide behind the big rock (it can't hit you), when it turns to green take out a bow and arrows and fire at it and so on and so forth like brown is earth spells etc, take an inventory of lobbies/sharks and turn on protect from melee when you're close combat with it and turn on protect from ranged when you're ranging/maging it, this simple strategy won me the battle.
