Need help!

Kay so theres this girl i REALLY like.
But were like best friends aswell.
Or atleast we used to be.
I cant work her out. One minute we get on great and the next she's really sharp and promt with me.
People tease us and say "When are you two ever gonna get together?"
I deny liking her to my friends cause i hold no self confidence whatsoever.
I am really shy and so is she.
I would be the happiest person in the world if she felt the same as i do.
But i have no idea how to go about the situation. ='[

Really, just go for it. It isn't that hard it's just the build up to it that is.

tell one of your good friends
and get them to hint to this girl
and try and get out of her if she likes you back
or just tell her yourself
hopefully she will feel the same way
and it will all be good

Thanks for all the replies first and formost.
You wouldnt belive how close ive been to asking her.
Something always has to go wrong just before i say it.
For example.
On bonfire night.
We went to go see a display.
I had this funny thaught it would be romantic..
And right before i go to ask her!
Her bloody phone rings!
And other times she completely changes the subject and the mood is ruined.
I have the worst luck to top it off..

Kk well i hate a close boy best friend he ended up asking me out i said yeah cos i liked him.. 1 1/2 month after we finished.. i regret it too much we dont speak anymore i miss him tbh
