Default 80 GB or 40 GB (+29 Rep)

Ok so my mom bought both for me and I have to pick one, could anyone tell me the pros and cons of each one?

I need you to describe it in noob talk because I am a noob, and I don't understand most of the "next-gen" terminology.

    80 GB:

Pros: 80 GB comes with Game, but you can play PS2 and PS1 games.
Cons: Have to buy seperate controller.

    40 GB:
Pros: 40 GB comes with controller, game, Blu-Ray DVD
Cons: Can't play PS2 and PS1 games which realllllllllly sucks.

Also a few other things i'm wondering: Is the memory card still needed for the PS3 or is there something built in? WTH are 'Game Saves'?

    Thanks for your help!

I'd go 80 , the 80 has more USB sockets and no memory cards are needed it goes onto the 80gb harddrive
Game saves are basically saves of a game i think , eg when you go to the menu and press save it records it in your memory - a game save!

Go for the 40 if you don't want to play PS1/2 games ;]

I'd get a 80gb one just because you can play ps1+2 games on it, but if you've already got a ps2 you could just use that to play them games and get a 40gb one?

I personally would go for the 80gb.

    More Space
Play ps1 and ps2 and tbh Blue Ray Disks are a rip off and only good if you have a HD T.V

    and 80gb has better features

About the Blu Ray.. it's like the equivalent of HD right? I don't have an HD TV, I have a pretty old JVC TV. How much difference will me not having an HD TV have?

If you don't have a HD TV then I'd say definately go with the 80GB.

blu-ray dvd is pretty much the same as hd but they dont scratch easly.. is that right?
well, the 40gb one cannot pla ps2/ps1 games however, if you have these games, you will more than likely have a ps2. also, they will play in the same quality on whatever console.

As for the slots, its cheaper to buy extra slots than buying an 80gb PS3.. I would suggest however, buying a new hd tv to get the full use out of the ps3... even if its like 17" because i will still look amazing.

Hope it helped and i would personally, go for an 80GB one

Ok, also about the SIXAXIS controller is it true that once there's 30 hrs of gameplay it runs out of battery?
