Indeed you cant password protect your images though or they wont load the webpage correctly
my first recomendation is to not use a common name of folder for your images
name the folder like readingisfun (i.e. lol) that way u cant just walk up and know where the images are and in cpanel disable hotlinking
only the ur site can use the images . if u try to go to a directory you are blocked
so u might want to allow urself as webmaster but block others
