ode to meaningful meanless apologies..

i'm not asking for forgiveness,
i'm just trying to let you know.
it's not like i meant those things i said,
but you left me all alone.

you knew what was happening,
you saw the signs come clear..
you knew who left already,
and you knew our end was near.

but you said them to me anyway--
you know i bite back when i'm bit;
it was your fault from the beginning,
but i know i claimed the biggest hit.

i didn't mean to make you cry,
and you didn't mean to make me cut.
and i'm sorry, so much i can't explain;
don't you miss me at least somewhat?

don't you remember those times,
we would plan to meet in the hall?
we'd walk to class and hate the world
and laugh so hard we'd watch us fall?

when i cornered you in that room,
with tears leaking from our eyes;
did you mean it when you said you loved me?
or were you just in clever disguise?

no matter what i know i did
i loved the you you were;
this replica doesn't mean a thing
but i just want to make sure.

and i still can't let you go.

i wrote this a day or two ago. sorry if it doesn't make much sense to others, it makes sense to me. i dunno, people could devise other stories out of this, i guess.
