The christmas tree stand is under the skirt. Its green with tree food in it :]
and even if it was a fake tree, a tree is a tree? You have to decorate both,

Real tree's are a waste of money and time, many go bare on Christmas Day, the needles go everywhere and this year they have gone up in price.

Fake ones are the best, cheap and re-useable
