Gears of war problem

When I play online sometimes on annex I get a red skull on my screen (like you do when you die) but no 1 has killed me and nothing comes up on the bottom of the screen... I have to wait to respawn again, it's weird :S

Anyone know why this could be?

Edit - I found out why, if you're playing on split screen and your the bottom screen you can't be kicked! they have to kick player 1 on the top screen
It makes sense now because we have different xbox live users aswell so the host wouldn't have known who to kick lol
