DDOS = distributed denial of service attack

Which basically means that the system is flooded with requests so the server is overloaded and can no longer provide the user with the data.

Ip Tracker and block the ip's that are doing it.

tech-hosts.co.uk had a DDOS attack recently... when we noticed hundreds of similar IPs browsing the site via live help. We immediately banned the subnets from our servers and this stopped the problem immediately before the site even started lagging. I suggest that you install some sort of IP tracker system, like they offered in the live support system on tech-hosts and you'll notice strange things like that.
    Kind Regards,

    Guy
