    putty won't let me type my password but enter still works

    Meh, although i just told you over msn in case anyone else has a simlar problem; The password thing is just down to the way linux does things. Basically passwords rather than shown as stars are often simply not displayed at all, as a securty thing. So although it looks like your not typing anything, u actually are, so just typin it in and continue normally and it should be fine
