Can't find any links, but can give a few things on here.
- Stay clean as possible - diseases spread easiley in trenches, so basic hygine would of been vital
- Use of gasmasks - Germans were always gassing the trenches, so they needed a gasmask with them at all times
- Follow orders - If you didn't, you probably would of been shot. If you had been orderd over the trench though, you would of died anyway.

Is that things like having Sand bags, having barbed wire, being in a dug out..

Well obviously you will want to talk about how to surviveso for example:
Keeping clean - Give examples of how they would keep clean in the trenches but also go into what could happen if you did not keep clean.
Good luck with it.
Hmm, is it tho important?
Anyway the important bits are:
Stay clean
Stay protected
Trenches need to be zigzag so the enemy can't shoot you directly.
Just don't go simple as.
There's no guide book on surviving the trenches that will work. How can you "Stay clean" it would have been impossible to stay clean. No baths, rats around, cold weather and diseases spreading around.
There is no way real way of surviving the trenches i'm afraid.
