Where i live we have something like the thames barrier, which stops the area from flooding.
Never the less i still am getting a feeling i will be needed over the weekend.

Why can't the UK invest in floor drains which drain water straight to the sea, rather rely on rivers and drains which end up in another area or, in the river?

My area thankfully doesn't flood. We get huge puddles, but never really any property damage.

I'm away from the rivers in Carlisle so I'm in no chance of being flooded. Heavy rain here, but I don't think there'll be a chance of what happened 3 years ago happening again.

I went to West Brom on Saturday and whilst going there, I seen lots of floods. It will not flood here as the walls surrounding the rivers are very high. The water level is the highest I've seen for a long long time.

Worcester and Tewkesbury seems quite bad hit again.
