A couple of months ago I went to see Karen Dunbar live, who is a very famous Scottish comedian who acts in shows like Chewin' The Fat and even has her own called The Karen Dunbar Show. Basically in her live act she has a bit where she sings with her keyboard/guitar player kinda guy. Just before she started she wanted us to listen to a song that we all knew but never listened to properly. The song was Desree - Life which if you hear it you instantly recognize it. So she played each bit then repeated the words back to us so we could grasp it as it's not too clear in the song when you first listen. So here's the lyrics in full;
Life, oh life, oh life, oh life,
doo, doot doot dooo.
Life, oh life, oh life, oh life,
doo, doot dooo
I'm afraid of the dark,
'specially when I'm in a park
And there's no-one else around,
Ooh, I get the shivers
I don't want to see a ghost,
It's a sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast
And watch the evening news
I'm a superstitious girl,
I'm the worst in the world
Never walk under ladders,
I keep a rabbit's tail
I'll take you up on a dare,
Anytime, anywhere
Name the place, I'll be there,
Bungee jumping, I don't care!
life, doo, doot dooo
doo, doot dooo
So after all is said and done
I know I'm not the only one
Life indeed can be fun, if you really want to
Sometimes living out your dreams,
Ain't as easy as it seems
You wanna fly around the world,
In a beautiful balloon
Please take note of the bits in bold and imagine what the HELL was she thinking when she wrote this or whoever wrote it. Karen also pointed out she says "I'm afraid of the dark, 'specially when I'm in a park" then in the next verse says "Name the place, I'll be there,". So how about in a park when it's dark then Desree
