I had mine taken out when I was about 7. They put you to sleep, you wake up with a soar throat and they give you lots of cold drinks/ice-cream and stuff then you go home a day later.

I had mine out in year 3. It's not bad actually, they just put you to sleep and you wake up with a really sore throat. But that goes away after two weeks =D And you have to take some medicine a few times a day.
