Default Media help. Saw IV fans especially

Right guys. I'm doing my 'independent study' for Media Studies at the moment (A2) it's a 3000 word, piece of focused research.

My question, or statement rather is: 'Saw IV uses horror merely as a means of shock'

I've got quite a bit of material together, and have compiled quite a bit of it, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

I for one, think Saw IV is almost like a morality tale, in that is explores different moral attributes. The horror does shock us, but it's to emphasise the important ideological values within the film, such as appreciating one's life.

Rep for anyone who inputs positively.

Are you doing this as coursework? We had to do it as an examination. I chose "Does the media celebratize (made up word) Politicians?", I think it's better in exam conditions because you get to take 4 pages of notes in with you!

In terms of yours, try and get a focus group together, showing them a clip of the film, stating how it makes them feel and what their initial reaction was.

You probably are on a different exam board, this is AQA stuff. Med 5 I believe, which is called 'Independent Study' which is a piece of coursework essentially.
