    A few things of interest...
    • Cigarettes up 11p a packet of 20 from 1800 GMT; five cigars up 4p.
    • Beer up by 4p a pint, wine 14p a bottle, spirits 55p a bottle and cider 3p a litre by Sunday.
    • Tax will go up on cars that pollute more.
    • 2p increase in fuel duty is postponed until October this year.
There are lots more (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7291841.stm) but I cba to write them all and alcohol, cigarettes and cars are probably the most popular issues. What do you think

Alcohol and fuel are the ones that affect me mostly - a 2p increase on the already outrageous fuel prices is just not needed. :@

Hmm, the fuel duty is good I guess. Tax cars is a good idea to meet Carbon Emission Targets. All alcoholic products is also a good idea, to prevent children from buying them. It won't make a big difference, but slowly and steadily wins the race. Cigarettes definetly though. They're evil.

Typical us sensible people hit again, we have to suffer because of idiots who can't control their drinking. The increases don't sound alot but it does add up at the end of the day.

Do you realise how much is already on this? In Lanzarote where I went for my holiday, it was around 40p for a litre and over here it's around £1.08.

Jesus christ, I never knew that. I meant it was good to reduce carbon emissions tbh, but whoa.

British prices are ridiculous - no wonder why people are leaving and I certainly will be when i'm older enough to. I would not want to stay in this country at all.

The ones in bold are not needed at all. Fuel has gone up enough, my mums finding it hard to afford at the moment since he work takes her all over the north-west.

EDIT: (I like this one) -
    • Laws will be introduced by 2009 to tax plastic bags if shops do not do more to charge for their use.
