Default Four Women Held Over Cyclist Stabbing

Two more women have been arrested over the killing of a female cyclist who died after a "brutal" attack in which she was repeatedly stabbed.

It brings the number to four arrested in connection with the death of the 26-year-old victim, who has not been named.
She was set upon in Liverpool on Friday night after getting into an argument with the occupants of a car, Merseyside Police said.
It is believed the woman was targeted and was known to her assailants.
The attackers drove off after the incident.
Two women, aged 19 and 25, were on suspicion of murder on Saturday night.
Officers had earlier executed warrants at three addresses in the Anfield area of Liverpool, arresting women aged 25 and 48 on suspicion of murder.
All four were being questioned by police.
The attack took place at around 8.30pm on Friday in Woodville Terrace, Anfield.
Police believe the victim was cycling down nearby Whitefield Road when a small, dark car driven by a man with two female passengers pulled up alongside her.
Witnesses reported hearing an argument between the three women, and the victim then tried to ride off.
She turned into Woodville Terrace but the car followed her.
The two women got out of the car and stabbed the victim repeatedly.
The assailants got back into the car and drove off.
The incident is not believed to be traffic related and was not random, police said.
In a bid to reassure the local community, officers stepped up their high visibility patrols in the area.
Det Chief Insp Richie Davies of Merseyside Police described the stabbing as "vicious and brutal".
He added: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this attack, or who has any information which could help us with our inquiries to contact the police as soon as possible."
Witnesses are asked to call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 4065 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Why is it becoming a daily thing to hear about vicious stabbings?

Sick of hearing it now, they need to start giving heavier sentences to act as a deterrent. It needs to stop.
