[Urgent] PC to LCD TV Sound Problem +Rep

I have had by Dell Dimension 2300 (Feel free to laugh) connected to my 32" Samsung LCD TV for 4 months and its been fine. But I want to use the speakers on the TV, but I cannot. I bought a Mini Jack to 2 RCA cable which according to google searches is right, but when I try to change the option of where the sounds coming from on the TV, I can't.

Do I have to change something on my PC?

I would suggest getting some surround sound or gaming chair which are better

How did you get your laptop hooked up to your tv

Most newer tv have pc in-lets which let you connect vga cables up.
