its quite hard to explain. the plot idea is original, the characters are well written, plus there's tons of twists and stuff. its the only anime ive ever found myself watching 3-4 episodes in an evening nonstop

It's funny, it has a good story, decent characters but still shows a dark side, it's very realistic because no one is all moody and depressing all the time, Edward and Al mess about alot considering the situation but it has alot of serious moments aswell, it's my favourite anime, I still have to finish watching it
