    Default helphelphelp pleaseeeee

    Hiya,

i've just recieved my phone from ebay. I turned it on and put the simcard and everything in and it says that I have limited service, where ever I go that's all I get. ocasionally I get "searching.." but no actual signal. I've sent a message to the person who sold it to me and she can't understand it as it worked with her before when she checked. She's happy for me to send it back and stuff but I don't really want to as I love the phone. I put my orange sim in another phone and signal was fine.

can anyone help me try and fix this?

the phone is a samsung e840
    and the network is orange

Try taking it to the phone store? They can probably know what to do. Also, I'm not from UK, so I don't know what Orange is.

Is the phone locked to another provider? Ask the seller what network she used on it. Maybe the phone is black listed. Take it down to a phone shop and let them look at it. They may be able to unlock it if it is the case. What phone is it btw?

Black listed is where the owner of the phone reports it stolen and it means that no sim card will work in it. Its basically a theft prevention device. Simply take it down to a phone shop and have them look at it to solve the problem! Or try a different sim card in it, like your mums and see if that works?
