Anyone have any decent guides? I can sure get a copy off a torrent somewhere, i'm just fed up with Windows, and can't seem to afford a tin of beans right now, let alone a Mac.

Don't know if that helps or what. However there is a guy to entirely convert your computer from Windows to Mac OS called the Hackintosh.
I tried, but it doesn't seem to work - I get so far, then get:
I guess it's the image i'm using - I can't seem to find a decent copy - thanks though, Greg.GenuineIntel

I seriousley reccomed signing up to forum.insanelymac.com/ and read up on OSx86 (AKA. Hackintosh) They are the official forum.. or one of. There is lots of guides on they're sister site, here.http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
(EDIT - BTW, its a 10.5.2 or 10.5.1 guide you want, they are Leopard, and I will find you a even better guide in a bit, my mate recently installed OSx86 and he has a good guide, shall get it for you ASAP.)
Thanks.

What was the name of what you downloaded. What are your hardware specs too.
Oh and personally if you want the most reliable go for JaS 10.4.8, i've successfully installed that on my rig. But don't look for it to replace windows, as hackintoshes can be very unstable.

basically you have to use a cracked kernel for pentium D. Vanilla only works for core2 processors.
try this for OSX Leopard. http://thepiratebay.org/tor/4122511/..._DVD_Intel_Amd
