You'll need to pay to have it repaired if you send it to Microsoft as it probably doesnt have a warranty and even if it did you wouldn't be able to use it unless you bought a new warranty.

Check if it's still in Warranty. Try find the serial number (It's next to the front 2 USB Ports) out from your Cousin and then go to https://service.xbox.com/default.aspx?locale=en-GB

Click 'Register a new device', type the Serial Number in and it'll give the warranty status. If it's still in warranty you should be able to get it repaired unless your Cousin has done something to void the warranty like use a cooler, modify it or chuck it under a train. If not it'll cost over £100 to get it repaired I think, but that depends on the problem.

£30 is also quite high, try get it down to £20.

Didn't realise you are Da Hilly Boy, you didn't reply to my message earlier

My advice would be to avoid Microsoft Customer Services like the plague. My brother needed his console fixed. £60. It was estimate to be gone for 10-20 working days. So around 3-4 weeks. It was gone 3 months and my mum was on the phone every night trying to track it down and talk to someone useful. In the end they lost the console and had to replace it with a "new" one. In the meantime my brother bought an Elite and sold his Premium when he finally got it back. His promised 3 months of live and a wireless controller? He had 1 month of live in the box.
