    Default Vertical Tutoring.

For those who dont know, vertical tutoring is where there are mixed year group tutor groups. Generally I have mixed feelings on this, if your in year 7 then your going to make several good friends but for other year groups there already going to have there own friends in there own years and tutor groups so it could split the school into loads of mini groups and people scared to socialise with other people.

    Anyway, thoughts?

our school was going to bring this in and we all hated the idea.
Its a rubbish idea really, i hated it and would still hate it. Form time is the only time during lesson time that you can talk to your mates (without getting told off) so you cant make friends in classes and youre too scared at lunch

At my school they decided to try this out. My year S6 (Year 12/13) was put into form classes with S1 pupils (Year 7/8) and we all hated this because it was only 3 of us to a class full of first years They changing it next year though

Our school is going to be doing the same thing (starting in september) as well. EVERYONE hates the idea, and the people organising it said they would listen to our oppinions and they didnt. :@ Looks like there is going to be alot of people skipping form next year.
Lets set the stage on fire, and hollywood will be jealous.

Yah ^ its not really good imo, they are doing it in my school from this monday coming because all year 11's have left now (whoo ive dont ave to go through this) and they want to trial it before the new year 7's in september, for everyone i hope they change it.
I also like the new house colours which year 11 decided on , silver, pink, gold, maroon (last two = school colours)

My old school did that, Year 9's, 10's, and 11's all mixed up; and Year 7's and 8's together.
It seemed to work but now the school's gone too far and put Year's 7 and 8 into mixed classes for English, Maths and Science. It's based upon their grades and boosts the confidence of the Year 7 who are put in the top classes with Year 8's, but not for those Year 8's in the bottom classes.
And plus, those in the Tutor's and mixed classes might not be able to sit with their friends.
    yeah.

Our school had it done, and it is much more effective than horizontal, it allows tutors to spend more time with specific years such as year 11's helping them with their coursework ETC.

Also it's much easier to set an example on the younger students, which generally results in a better behaved year group.
    PM me for help.

Nobody likes change don't forget, if you give it a chance I guarantee your school will like it, it is really beneficial.
