    Default Golden Balls Is Back

David Beckham has been named England captain for Sunday's friendly against Trinidad & Tobago.
It is a remarkable turnaround for the 33-year-old who stepped down as skipper after the 2006 World Cup and was then dropped by former boss Steve McClaren.
The midfielder did regain his place under McClaren but was then made to wait for his 100th cap when current manager Fabio Capello took charge.
Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard and John Terry were Capello's previous skippers. The Italian is rotating the captaincy among his players before he makes a permanent decision.

Capello said: "When I took over as manager I decided to choose a different captain for each game, and David was on one of the four players I thought of.
"David will be the last captain - but only for this game.
"He played very well against USA in the first half and he starts as captain in the next game. But it is impossible to know what will happen in the future."
Beckham will lead the team out for the 59th time on Sunday and is likely to take charge of an inexperienced England team. Some of the younger squad members may be given the chance to impress as seven players involved in the Champions League final between Chelsea and Manchester United - including Terry and Wayne Rooney - have stayed behind.
Bad choice in backwards. I guess it will be either Barry Or Ferdianad for the czech Republic game.

Hes a previous captain. He quit it after the 2006 world cup .Its going backwards because hes had his turn and now we should let someone like Barry or Feridnand again for this game.

He may have experience but he probaly wont be here for the 2010 world cup.

Im very sure he wont get the captains armband on a permant basis though.

All he did was step down. That gave other people the chance to be captain.

Capello is trying to find his perfect captain and so obviously he will want to try out Beckham as captain during one of his (capello's) games so that he will know if he should pick him or not to be captain in the future.

Beckham is the most experienced player there. Granted I don't think he should've even been thought of for the squad but you can't fight facts.

Well you can't say that Beckham didn't do a good job. We lost out in 2 world cups and a European championship due to bad lucky really. (Penalites and that Ronaldinho goal). Plus our squad now is probably much better than it was then.

    No, we're just crap.

We can't even do anything but loose against Croatia on our own turf...

No, we were unlucky to lose in the knockout stages of the last 3 competitions. We did lose to Croatia, but they are a good team...

All down to Steve McClaren who was made to eat his words and bring back Beckham who started giving us hope of actually making the European Championships.
