You would be stupid to buy an 8800GTX.

Is it a Dell or what?

Is this a desktop or a laptop? For that kind of price I wouldn't settle for anything less than a core 2 duo processor. If your buying from dell, rather than select home computers select small business computers as Dell like to give a discount to business (be warned prices are excl. VAT unless stated)

For example yesterday I found a core 2 duo vistro lightweight laptop for £220 excl. VAT

It is not as simple as just the spec..

What are you looking for in a PC/Laptop?

You need a graphics computer for gaming, or do you just use it for school work?

It makes a big difference depedant on what you actualy use your computer for..

I wouldn't buy that, Sam. It's fair, but the price is much too high for what you get. Technology is generally more expensive in Europe compared to North America, but for that price I could get an HP MediaCenter PC with a quad Q6600, and a 21.6" LCD.
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.

If you get a Xeon you'll need a server motherboard, so basically don't get one for a desktop
