To be honest I've never played a MGS game, I went to town today, intent of buying Uncharted Drakes Fortune, when I noticed that they were selling MGS, I thought why not and bought it.
Now Im utterly kafuddled.
But, the graphics and gameplay are amazing and the story is beginning to pick up, but if like me, you didnt even know was a 'Solid Snake' was, I wouldnt suggest buying this game straight off.
But whats everybody else's impressions of it?

Go buy the previous games, you're missing out on ALOT and some brilliant storylines. Metal Gear Solid & Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty= Solid Snake.
Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater= Big Boss.
Gogo play them, you'll be :s at the end of MGS4 if you don't know who Big Boss is and what he did.

Ill take your advice on that charles, see if theres some cheap preowned ones knocking about, I did a bit of reaseach on Wiki, but its not the same is it

It's not the same, but seeing as the games are quite long I'd suggest taking a peek at this guys Youtube page; http://www.youtube.com/user/alexfung23 as he has the Metal Gear Solid games put into (long) clips (this page http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...872580C&page=5). Which will save you time, unless you want to play them yourself

Shame I can't buy it on 360, Dad refuses to let me buy a PS3 so I can't get it

It is simply amazing still playinging it now simply awesome game if any serious PS3 owner does not buy game they deserve to be shot.
