Default The Most Pointless Remakes Of All Time

99.9% percent of remakes are cash-ins on classics and the same percentage are complete tarnishes on the name of the original films, that are rushed faster than the makers run to the bank. I give Peter Jackson his due for doing the seemingly impossible and creating a remake that was completely an homage to his favourite film, and was actually decent.

Which remakes do you feel are the worst of all time and why?

One of, if not the most blatant cash-in, is 1998's Psycho. Not only was it completely horrible but it was equally pointless - it is shot-for-shot identical to Hitchcock's.

Charlie and the chocolate factory. The new version was too childish and the songs were awful and childish too.

Because it's first and foremost a film for children, what did you expect? :S

I thought the new version is quite good, Willy Wonka is meant to be a very strange person and I think they did it perfectly, the chocolate factory looked better in the new version aswell

I think the most pointless and probably the worst remake ever is Get Carter

I'm pretty sure there was another Grease that came out, though. Maybe I'm thinking of something else, nevermind.

There is a Grease 2, but it isn't a remake.
