well as i've only seen the first one, that.

Don't even attempt to watch them out of order. They all tell different parts of the same story. SAW, the first, is the greatest, by far - to be honest, they go from bad to worse chronologically from the first sequel onwards.

the first three are really good, especially saw 3.
however, saw 4 is so stupidly unnecessary violent, that its tedious to watch.
and yeh, like misawa said, you should watch them in order.

SAW has great substance in its story, as does SAW IIl From III onwards, the films are just gorey for the sake of it, and follow a seemingly strict formula for the series - unneeded violence, lack of story, and a twist.
