Speedier Connection?

My router is downstairs and xbox is upstairs in my room, its not the best connection ever, 30-40% of the time i disconnect.
How can i improve it?
dont state the bloody obvious and say move the router or anything like that, can i get better equipment?
I have a "NetGear" router.

Move the router, move the xbox. A new router won't do anything noticable to your connection.

Would it be better to have a wire running round your house?

Yeah buy a 15M LAN cable from Currys or Comet, wire it through from modem to Xbox and you'll notice the speed increase. THEN AGAIN, since youre disconnecting so much it might be to do with the area you're living in. Do you disconnect alot when youre on a PC?

Ermmm, mine used to do that when I had xbox next to wireless PC. When I moved PC it seemed to be fine. So make sure that nothing in same room could interfier.

Also, how many things are connected to router?
