To Be Titled
Surround the truth that'll kill you with a bodyguard of lies;
Ignorance is bliss, and what a better time to learn that as a guise
For the painful truth, dishonesty is not to be despised.
Shield yourself from happenings sweet-smelling but barbed,
Lest you forget that good intentions often harbour
Buried will to stab you at the most vulnerable and off your guard.
It is better to know you know nothing at all,
Than to know you know something - but remember that no matter how small
A warm grain of hope may be,
It'll cr*ack open your frozen heart of battered hearts
And, caring not for flesh or soul, will unlock and free
All your hopes and dreams, desires and fears,
And bid them make their way as bitter, salted tears.
