Theory is good but not executed brilliantly. I would say tone down the floral paterns, just blending the pattern a bit more with the background (brightness/contrast), also make the blue not have lines just some shading as I'm not sure the diagonal lines fit the theme.#

Then line the nav up with the content.

Nice layout though, very nice.
