    Default 'Timeout' bans?

    Hai guys,

I just got 'inspired' by a certain member of staff to post this idea since it sounded rather awesome. What I'm suggesting is a policy to make bans fairer but more simple, and to tackle troublemakers faster and more swiftly. My idea is called a 'timeout ban'. A timeout ban would be given to troublesome members who are given one warning. Everytime they're given one warning, they're given a timeout ban. The timeout ban would essentially be a permenant ban for 24 hours, a cooldown period for a member to get their act together. This would be followed by a caution (reason: Timeout #1?) which would stay on the members profile for a set time, depending on the severity (1 month being the least, never expires being the most).

Everytime you get a Timeout caution, you either get a 24/48/72 hour ban. If you have 2 active Timeout cautions, you recieve a 48 hour ban, and as for 3 a 72 hour ban. If the member persists to cause trouble after 3 timeouts, they are put into a caution for one week and then followed by a permenant ban if they persist (as policy is right now.. I think.)

Reason I'm proposing this is because I know alot of members who have moments of rebellion, and they get their account infracted for it but they come to regret it afterwards. Timeouts could be put in like the above method I've stated, or as a ban which is used at Moderators discretion. Personally I like my idea, but Moderators discretion would definetly be something of a problem solver when it's a member who doesn't usually troublemake.

Discuss amongst yourselves, and NO MAD, NO FLAMING.

    5 Infraction points = 7 day caution
    6 Infraction points = 1 day ban
    7 " = 2 Day
    8 " = 3 Day
    9 " = 4 Day
    10 " = Perm ban.
    PM me for help.

why not just have a temp ban for 24 hours if you get 2 warnings in one day (or infractions?) This would act as the timeout ban. Your method sounds rather interesting but complicated to initiate

The method we have now is perfectly fine, most users stop after the initial warning PM, before we even infract/warn.

Sounds like a better idea than what they are doing right now.

Should just use the somethingawful system of probations, you mess up you get put on probation for like 3 hours then it increases, you can view the forum you just can't post anywhere.

I was going to suggest this, they should just to temp bans which stop you from posting on the forum but you can still view the forum.
